Senior Research paper topic… dealing with tattoos and piercings?

We’re told to do something we are interested in but i can’t decide on the angle to go about writing a Research paper dealing with tattoos and piercings? maybe body art in history or religion… possibly health and awareness??

Body art in history would be a killer idea to compare with today’s conventional view of people with tattoos. Many people in today’s society are looked down upon for having tattoos, especially visible ones – but maybe use the argument that in some tribes and villages having body art tells a story, portrays your hierarchy in the village, etc, and that people without the tattoos are the less common ones. I would love to read that research paper.
